China urged the International Criminal Court Thursday to drop its arrest warrant for Sudan’s leader on war crimes, saying it won’t help stabilize the war-scarred Darfur region.

Without a doubt, China is on the wrong side of the World on this one. Opposing a policy position from the US or England or whoever is one thing but going against the International Criminal Court (a tribunal known for its thoroughness and conservatism in targeting a person for prosecution) is different. I don’t see what they benefit by opposing the warrant unless they are positioning themselves to make a grab for Sudan’s friendship and keep the guns for oil trade going. If that is case, I guess they don’t care much for “mianzi”.
