Ray Chang homered and drove in two runs and China beat Taiwan 4-1 on Saturday for its first win in the World Baseball Classic.

I once went to a Chinese baseball game and it was terrible. The teams played alright but the fans were clueless to the dynamics of baseball. Understanding the background, you shouldn’t find it strange that I was shocked to see the good ball play from the China team last night in the China v Taiwan match. There were some great MLB-esque plays to be had from the China team. What’s more, their win keeps them alive. Rarely, do I give a shout out to China sports but on this day I do. Jiayou! Jiayou!

Chang powers China past Chinese Taipei

Update: The next day Korea pounds China thereby ending their bid to go on to the next round. They are, at least, the Kings of the China!
